The Cove Wins the OscarĀ®!

We are so very honored that The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has awarded The Cove with the 2009 Oscar® for Best Documentary Feature!

Director Louie Psihoyos and Producer Fisher Stevens accepted the Academy Award® onstage at the Kodak Theater on Sunday night, accompanied by Producer Paula Dupré Pesmen and Ric O'Barry.

The Oscar® is the utmost honor within the film industry, and the biggest exposure for our cause that we could ever hope for.

We recorded a special Oscar® acceptance speech with Louie Psihoyos that you can watch here. Also watch his additional thank you message for all of our supporters.

OPS Team Busts LA Restaurant Serving Endangered Whale Meat

Amid the Oscar® activities of the past week, the OPS team undertook our latest covert mission.

The target: Los Angeles sushi restaurant "The Hump", suspected of serving meat from the endangered Sei Whale. The act is a rare occurrence in the US, but underscores the illegitimacy of Japan's scientific whaling program.

Armed with hidden cameras and microphones, the OPS team worked with federal agents to uncover the illegal activity.

Louie Psihoyos broke the story to The New York Times just hours after accepting the Academy Award® for The Cove. Read more about how the sting operation was carried out.

Japanese Website Goes Live

We recently launched a Japanese language section of our website in anticipation of the release of The Cove in Japan this Spring. The site provides information about the film to those who need it most. Pass it on!

We've also included a page with information in Chinese. While we don't have plans to release the film in China just yet, we've already received overwhelming support there. Thank you!
