The 63rd Annual Macy’s Fishing Contest
July 14-18, 10am-4pm

The R.H. Macy’s Fishing Contest has been an annual event in Prospect Park since 1947. A rite of passage for tens of thousands of Brooklyn kids over the years, the contest runs for a week each July and is held lakeside at the Peninsula. The event is open to kids 15 years old or under. Equipment is provided free of charge or participants can bring their own! All fishing is done on a catch-and-release basis; fish must be returned to the Lake alive.

The event takes place at Park Drive & Wellhouse drive shoreline. Closest entrance is Vanderbilt Street and Prospect Park Southwest [map it].

Andy Warhol: The Last Decade

This extraordinary exhibition of nearly 50 paintings is the first major survey in New York since 1989. It focuses on Warhol’s last year’s where he produced more works, on a vastly larger scale, than at any other point in his forty-year career that reveal his vitality, energy, and spirit of experimentation. The Last Decade includes artwork from The Last Supper series and his collaborations with the Jean-Michel Basquiat.

On Friday July 16, attend a special conversation with artist-socialite Brigid Berlin and Vincent Fremont, a filmmaker and the former vice president of Andy Warhol Enterprises, who will share their memories of working with Warhol.
