Update

September 24, 2009 Brought to you by Oceanic Preservation Society

Dear Friend,

Once again, helpless bottle-nose dolphins are being rounded up by the fishermen of Taiji, Japan. Regardless of the international outcry sparked this year by our film, The Cove, the dolphins are right now being rounded up by an armada of boats and herded to shore for sale to aquariums. For the ones that aren't sold, their fate is still up in the air. While the panicked dolphins struggle to escape, they could be destined to a brutal death, just as we presented in our film. We face the possibility that, in Taiji alone, 2,000 dolphins will be targeted this year, with as many as 20,000 more, similarly rounded up and butchered by Japanese fishermen.

The only way we can permanently stop this savage killing is to get The Cove shown in Japan. With the the Tokyo International Film Festival's recent decision to screen The Cove, we have our opportunity, but I need your immediate help.

You see, we must translate the voice over in the film into Japanese. Then, we must hire actors to voice over the entire dialog, adjust the sound, and rewrite the subtitles. It's a costly venture to change a film after it has been completed, but we must do it. And to do so, we need to raise $16,000, immediately.

If we can raise the money, we’ll rush to completion and show The Cove to the Japanese press and audiences at the Tokyo International Film Festival. This would help us acquire Japanese distribution, and to have the film ready for Japanese screenings when the opportunities arise.

For many of us, the merciless killing of bottlenose dolphins is itself is enough to call for a halt. But, that’s not enough. Japanese citizens need to know that they are being sold dolphin meat labeled as whale meat. And that it is laden with deadly mercury. That’s the message we must get across to the citizens of Japan if we are to stop the massacre.

By clicking here, you can help us take our film, The Cove, directly to the people of Japan and help stop the dolphin slaughter. We need to raise $16,000 now and need your tax deductible donation today. Thank you very much for your generous support.
